Herat

Herat 's Citadel

The citadel was constructed in the 13th century during the Ghurid dynasty and was expanded during the Timurid dynasty in the 15th century. The Shrine of khaja abd Allah

This fine old 22-arched bridge is a few kilometres south of the city. Believed to have been constructed by the Seljuks in the early 12th century, it has survived the floods that have washed away countless other bridges on the Hari Rud. According to legend, two sisters, Bibi Nur and Bibi Hur, collected egg shells to mix with the clay of the bricks, making it strong like steel.

Puli Malaan Bridge

The shrine of Khaja Abd Allah is a sacred place dedicated to the Sufi Saint Khaja Abd Allah. Khaja Abd Allah was known for his piety and wisdom and is revered as a spiritual guide and healer. The shrine is beautifully decorated with colorful tiles and intricate carvings.

Jami majdi of Herat

The Great Mosque of Herat is a stunning example of Islamic architecture. The mosque was built in the 12th century during the Ghurid dynasty and has undergone several renovations and additions over the years. The most impressive feature of the mosque is its towering minarets that stand over 150 feet tall and are visible from miles away. The main prayer hall is also a sight to behold.
